Detroit Historical Museum

The Motor City’s history comes alive at the Detroit Historical Museum. Located in Midtown, the museum traces Detroit’s history in person through exhibits such as Streets of Old Detroit, America’s Motor City, Doorway to Freedom: Detroit and the Underground Railroad, and Detroit: The Arsenal of Democracy. The city’s rich musical history is explored through Motor City Music while the inventiveness of its citizens is showcased at The Gallery of Innovation. The museum is managed by the Detroit Historical Society, which founded the institution in 1928.
