Detroit Grand Prix

Detroit is home to the Detroit Grand Prix, an IndyCar Series race that has existed in various incarnations since 1982. Over the years it has alternated between a temporary track downtown or a track along Belle Isle. It originated as a Formula One event that ran from 1982 to 1988, followed by becoming an event affiliated with CART in 1989. The event remained associated with CART until a revival in 2007 as an IndyCar race, then another revival in 2012, which has lasted up to the present. The 2022 race is scheduled to take place in Belle Isle, while the 2023 race will be situated near the Renaissance Center.
