North American International Auto Show

Detroit’s title as the Motor City is undisputed by virtue of hosting the annual North American International Auto Show. This is one of the premiere events of the year for the auto industry, allowing them to debut new products to consumers and industry experts with a large audience. The convention first began in 1899 through the efforts of auto salesman William E. Metzger as the Detroit Auto Show. Although originally focused on regional products, its repertoire increased in 1957 to include automobiles from other countries, and it was made official in 1987 with the now-current name, the North American International Auto Show. The convention is held yearly at the TCF Center in Downtown Detroit, along the Detroit Riverfront.
